Comparative and Superlative Adjectives

Kita memakai comparative adjectives untuk membandingkan dua hal, dan superlative adjectives untuk menunjukkan yang paling ekstrem di antara tiga hal atau lebih.

This book is more interesting than that one. This is the most interesting book I've ever read.

Adjective pendek (satu suku kata)

Tambahkan -er untuk comparative dan -est untuk superlative.

small	smaller	the smallest

Aturan ejaan:

• berakhiran -e → tambah -r/-st saja: nice → nicer, nicest
• konsonan-vokal-konsonan → dobel konsonan terakhir: big → bigger, biggest
• konsonan + -y → ganti -y jadi -i: happy → happier, happiest

Adjective panjang (dua suku kata atau lebih)

Gunakan more untuk comparative dan most untuk superlative — jangan tambahkan -er/-est.

Sebagian adjective dua suku kata (terutama yang berakhiran -y, -er, -ow) bisa memakai kedua pola: happy → happier atau more happy (happier lebih umum).

Struktur kalimat

• Comparative + than: She is taller than her brother.
• Superlative + the (biasanya): He is the smartest student in the class.
• Perbandingan setara: This test is as difficult as the last one.

Kesalahan umum

• ❌ "This is more bigger than that." → ✅ "This is bigger than that." (jangan gabungkan -er dan more)
• ❌ "She is the most tallest in her class." → ✅ "She is the tallest in her class."
• ❌ "This movie is more good than the last one." → ✅ "This movie is better than the last one."
• ❌ "He is intelligenter than me." → ✅ "He is more intelligent than me." (adjective panjang, jangan tambahkan -er)

Cara paling cepat mengingat pola mana yang dipakai: hitung suku katanya — pendek pakai -er/-est, panjang pakai more/most.
